Transferring a Deposit from One Tenancy to Another for the Same Tenant
To migrate your deposit from one tenancy (Tenancy A) to another (Tenancy B), please do the following:
Insurance Scheme
1. In Tenancy A, set an Expiry Date.
2. Go to the Deposit Scheme tab of the tenancy and tick Deposit Retained. The system now creates a credit note.
3. Create Tenancy B and again head to the Deposit Scheme tab.
4. Record the deposit and press Save.
5. Click Deposit Received from Tenant and then click Allocate Credit on the next screen that comes up. Allocate the credit note from step 2 to the invoice created in step 4.
Custodial Scheme
1. In Tenancy A, set an Expiry Date.
2. Go to the Deposit Scheme tab and tick Deposit Returned.
3. Create Tenancy B and again head to the Deposit Scheme tab.
4. Record the deposit and press Save.
5. Click Deposit Received from Tenant and record the payment. Write it to the Mispostings account, not the bank account.
6. Tick Deposit Forwarded to Custodian. Set the Account to Mispostings rather than the bank account.
